Ashley Shepherd
Why are uke’s so popular these days? Its so affordable and portable. Such a great amount of entertainment in such a small package. Plus, its easy to learn, four strings, a little strumming and off your go…
With a degree from Berklee College of Music, Ashley Shepherd has been playing music for over 30 years. Starting out playing in jazz band and local rock bands in high school, he moved into a career producing, engineering and playing on records that have garnered gold and platinum awards.
His primary instrument is bass, with guitar a close second. Ukulele has been a fun addition as it fits easily with guitar techniques and has such a complimentary tone. He even has a Uke Bass now!
His credits include Peter Frampton, Humble Pie, Blessid Union of Souls, Carol King, Bad Veins, 500 Miles to Memphis, Pokemon the Movie, Google, NASCAR, NFL, Oprah, Everyone Loves Raymond, Seinfeld, Puma, Proctor & Gamble, Woolrich Clothing and many more.
As a technical author, he has written Pro Tools for Film, TV and Multimedia (2nd. Ed. ISBN: 1598635328), Nuendo 5 Power (ISBN:143545958X) Plug-in Power (ISBN:1592009530) and writes manuals for Steinberg, Yamaha, and Iosono.
At his studio, www.audiogrotto.com, he continues to write, and produce new music and create sound design for films, games and television. You can also find him playing out on the weekends with his blues band or sitting in with his wife, Annette’s jazz trio’s.
Bryan Billhimer
Ukulele is the gateway instrument. If you have always wanted to learn an instrument, starting with the uke is the way to go. You’ll be playing your favorite tunes in no time. Whether you are chillin’ on the beach or lounging in your room, the uke is the perfect instrument to entertain yourself and your friends.
Bryan Billhimer is a 20 year guitar veteran with experience in teaching, live performance, and studio recordings. Bryan began his guitar playing career at the age of 14 taking guitar lessons for two years from a private instructor. In those two years, he learned all the fundamentals necessary to further his craft and easily add the ukulele as a primary instrument.
During high school and college Bryan performed in several bands on a regular basis playing blues and rock. In this time he earned a Bachelors degree from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Upon graduating college he worked in a local studio where he met producer Emosia (produced Blessid Union of Souls, Lakeisha Berri, etc.) and members of Blessid Union. After a year or so he was asked to join the band and toured for nearly ten years with the international recording artists covering the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Germany, and Afghanistan.
Throughout his career in music, Bryan has also privately taught multiple students. Beginning in college and to the present, he has taught over 50 students in private lessons.

Acceptance of Terms and Conditions
Welcome to the Center Stage Ukulele Academy web site (www.csukuleleacademy.com the Site) owned and operated by Center Stage Media, LLC. Subject to the following terms of Service (TOS) Center Stage Ukulele Academy provides users of the Site with access to a collection of ukulele lessons, study materials, and other suggested ukulele resources (the services). Center Stage Ukulele Academy reserves the right to amend these TOS from time to time and at any time. The most current version of the TOS posted at www.csukuleleacademy.com shall control. And users are responsible for reviewing the TOS to ensure knowledge of such modifications. Use of the Services by a user shall constitute that user’s acceptance of these Terms of Service.
Center Stage Ukulele Academy Services
Center Stage Ukulele Academy provides two levels of access to the Site and its Services. Any visitor to the Site will be able to access only basic information about the Site and the Services of Center Stage Ukulele Academy. Visitors to the site may subscribe to Center Stage Ukulele Academy for full access to all content. Subscription requires periodic payments to take and remain in effect. Subscribers agree to pay for the subscription period selected at the time of purchase. Subscribers will receive a confirmation notice upon their original effective date. It is the subscriber’s responsibility to review the notice to ensure that is accurately reflects the requested subscription period.
Subscription renewal is automatic and subscribers authorize automatic renewal of their subscriptions until cancelled. Subscribers can cancel the automatic renewal of their subscription at any time. To do so, contact us by emailing us at cancel@csukuleleacademy.com and provide your account username and email address. Your account will be canceled within two (2) business days of receipt and acceptance of your cancellation. Upon cancellation you will still have access to your account until your renewal date. Upon cancellation you will receive a confirmation email canceling your subscription.
Reservation of Rights
Center Stage Ukulele Academy reserves the right to terminate and/or cancel subscriber’s subscriptions or access to the site at any time for any reason.
Username/Password Protection
Upon registering, registered users and subscribers will choose a username and password that will permit them to access the services for the Site. Registered users and subscribers to the Site agree to take all reasonable steps to protect and ensure the accuracy of any login, password, or payment information proved in the connection with the Services. Subscribers agree to be the sole users of their username/password and the Services, and to promptly notify Center Stage Ukulele Academy if this is not the case. Center Stage Ukulele Academy may terminate access and deactivate or delete a user’s account without prior notice and without obligation. Center Stage Ukulele Academy reserves the right to restrict access to the Services to any user and may at any time without notice immediately deny access by any person.
Intellectual Property Notices
Center Stage Ukulele Academy and its logo are trademarked. The Site contains proprietary, original material that is protected by U.S copyright and international treaties. Center Stage Ukulele Academy and our instructors retain all intellectual property rights with respect to such proprietary, original material. Center Stage Ukulele Academy will pursue legal action against anyone who misappropriates its name or content for commercial use. Any commercial publication or exploitation of the Services or content provided in connection therewith is specifically prohibited and anyone wishing to do so must first request and receive prior written permission from Center Stage Ukulele Academy to do so. This notice constitutes fair warning.
Use Restrictions
You agree to not use the Services: to upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available ( A) any content that you do not have a right to make available: (B) any content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights of any harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable or to intentionally violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law.
Print and Download Restrictions
The Site may at times contain proprietary and original material licensed from Third Parties. The terms under these licenses may prohibit the downloading and/or printing of such material by users. Center Stage Ukulele Academy is obliged under such licenses to disable the user’s ability to download and/or print such content. Any attempt by users and subscribers to circumvent these restrictions is a violation of this TOS agreement and may result in termination of service and appropriate legal action.

Miscellaneous
This TOS constitutes the entire agreement between you and Center Stage Ukulele Academy and shall govern your use of the site and its Services, superseding any prior agreements between you and Center Stage Ukulele Academy.

Malaguena
In this lesson we will be learning the spanish / flamenco song Malaguena. The song is played fingerstyle and is made up of basically 2 themes. The song also gives us the opportunity to improvise a solo using a Phrygian Dominant scale. This musical piece sounds great on ukulele because of the nylon strings. Learn the scale and sound like a spanish guitar virtuoso!
