The Number System
In this lesson we will be studying a system of understanding chords in a different way. It involves taking the chords and converting them to numbers or roman numerals. This system is important and useful because you can take the numbers of chords and easily apply them to changing keys. And it also provides an easy way to communicate musically with other musicians.
Transposing Songs to Different Keys
In this lesson we will be learning how to transpose songs to different keys. We will use and analyze the song Meant To Be as an example. Bryan originally did the lesson in the key of G and Ashley will be demonstrating how to transpose to the original key of Bb. This concept can be applied to anything and can be especially useful to change the key of songs to match your vocal range.
Explaining Dynamics
In this lesson we will be discussing dynamics and how they are marked on a chart or tab, and also how to use them to make an impact on the song. We will be using the song Natural Woman as an example to explain dynamics.
Common Chord Progressions
In this lesson we will be learning 3 common chord progressions. We will be using the key of G to demonstrate the I-V-iv-IV progression, I-IV-V progression, and the 50's progression.
